This is the final edit of the Rustler 24 film. We are all really happy with the outcome and are looking forward to the responses we get.

While we were in France we did a lot of filming and managed to collect a healthy bank of clips to edit together. Because we where filming for the british sailing team, Skandia Team GBR, we had to get the film edited as quick as possible, so quick that as soon as we got the footage on to the computer we were editing it.

This was a good professional experience and gave us an insight in to the speed and quality that is necessary in the yachting profession.

Below is the final film we created for Skandia team GBR.

I forgot Rustler!!

On the 22nd to the 23rd of April we traveled down to the beautiful Falmouth on the Cornish coast. Because of the dreaded ash cloud our trip to south of france to film the Nacra team was canceled. Even thought his was a real set back for us all, we got to stay in one of the most stunning places in britain. Even though the scenery was mesmerizing we where there for a purpose, to film a Yachting company called Rustler.

The yacht we were Filming is called a Rustler 24. This is a small two man (max 3) person boat. It is a lot smaller than the other boats that they make. This was an advantage for us because it enabled us to have a lot more control over the boat i the water. I call Rustler boats “The Roles Royce of boats.”

Filming the Rustler yachts was an amazing experience for us all. We decided that due to it being too windy the first day we were there, that we would film in the factory this turned out to be a really good idea. Every one was extremely welcoming and didn’t mind us sticking a camera in there faces, this in turn allowed us to get some amazing shots of the boats being made.
Luckily towards the evening the weather had decided to ease off a bit, so we launched the boats. The evening light was a really nice sight and made the boat and the cornish backdrop look amazing.
After a well deserved nights sleep in a local B&B we where up again bright and early ready to get back on the water and film some more yachts. We finished filming that afternoon feeling extremely happy with the footage we had and ready to drive back home.

Skandia Team GBR en France

Below are some pictures of our trip to France to film the British Olympic sailing team. We are in to our second day of filming, the sun is here and so is the wind (luckily!). We have managed to get a lot of footage and we all feel very confident that we will be able to produce a very nice final short video.

South of France!

Recently Richard had organized for Jack and I to travel down to the South of France, Hyeres/Le Lavandou, to make a film for the Nacra Sailing team. We had aimed to set of on the 23rd of April, fly to France and film for three days and in richard words “shoot the most awesome video ever!!” Unfortunately due to resent event, ie the ash cloud created by a volcano erupting in Iceland, has grounded all planes around europe. Therefore grounding us and the Nacra Sailing team who are currently in Dubai.

Today we had a meeting with richard to discus the ever approaching trip to the south of France to film. We discussed manny issues that we thought might come up regarding our personal safety. Things such as life jackets, where you are standing on the RIB, mainly making sure that yourself and the equipment is safe.

We also updated the firmware on the Canon so that we can use ‘Custom Picture Styles’ this allows us to greatly increase the dynamic range of picture information recorded when filming. This will increase the professional look of our final product.
This is an example of the custom picture styles in action.

H2O Final Edit

This is the final edit of the small H2O project richard set us while he was away. Edited by Jack and Shot by Jack and Myself. We where all really pleased with the result and felt it was a good way to further our knowledge of the Canon 5D Mk 2.

Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures of the making of this video as the only camera we had was being use to film this video. Hopefully the video itself is evidence enough of the work we put in to making it.

Alan Sugar (Richard Langdon) set Jack and I a short video project to produce while he was away in Spain. He gave us a choice between a film about Christchurch or H2O, we decided to choose H2O.
Our plan is to take some really picturesque shots and create an artistic video. Similar to the film Koyaanisqatsi.
